"“I’ve always been moving and always counted on movement to not only propel me from place to place, but to express myself as I propelled from place to place, and to be who I am. But the thing I learned was that I couldn’t be still, I couldn’t be present in my life. Until this thing happened to me that made me present in every moment of my life, because it was shaking me awake” ~ Michael J. Fox
5⭐️ Just an outstanding documentary! Normally I can’t get through anything in one sitting but the time just flew by viewing this one and before I knew it, it was over.
To convey the narrative the filmmakers cleverly intersperse old MJF film & TV clips (mostly The Secret to My Success) with some convincingly created reenactments. The result is a brisk, brash and irresistibly confident film .. much like MJF himself. But honestly even if it was only him sitting in front of a camera talking it would be just as riveting. This man has not lost one iota of charisma, nor passion and will to forcefully “propel” himself through his life. The thing is I think we all believed him to have handled his diagnosis and condition so well, so gracefully and so positively, but of course .. he didn’t! The resulting denial, bargaining, anger, depression and self-inflicted isolation he experienced are so visceral every emotion jumps from the screen. For a master class in all the stages of grief, watch this doc. Even all the way through to the last one, it’s acceptance that’s not at all passive. It’s a determined acceptance without bitterness, blame or self pity.
MJF is not always the good guy however, and sometimes more like his overly confident, impudent characters than we would have guessed. But he is a lesson in unflagging resoluteness and yes, sheer guts. And in complete awareness and acknowledgement of what you’re facing and not giving in or up. "
"Funny. Heart breaking. Interesting. Real and inspirational. He is so honest and the documentary was very well done. "

"Still may be a play on words referring to the insidious way Parkinson’s causes tremors that make it so difficult to be still but then locks other parts of the body so it makes it so difficult to be fluidly in motion but in this case also refers to Fox still entertaining us, still making us laugh despite pain, still being concerned about being a good father, husband and “famous” person who feels a responsibility to keep going so he can inspire others with this disease to push to do things they never thought they could do, all while his disease progresses. Both fans & those just familiar with his greatest hits will find much to learn about this disease while seeing a man at his most vulnerable. Brilliantly cut together with archival footage & Fox telling his story in his own words. Beautifully done! "

"This movie is amazing for anyone that is a fan of Fox. Whether it be Back to the Future or any of his many TV shows, this is a must watch. It goes in detail, how Fox has lived out his life. It opens a new perspective to how fans should view Fox. This movie made me realize that if I ever have the chance to see Fox in person, to just thank him for the commitment he gave to the movie and TV industry. After watching a really good movie, I feel like I am the main character. I was so immersed that I had the same feeling after watching this DOCUMENTARY! "
