"No one can capture the eloquence and storytelling of Shakespeare quite like Kenneth Branagh. The film is a stunning rendition and an intelligent demonstration of Branagh’s directing style, which is quite an impressive feat considering this is his directorial debut. The film was able to maintain the theatricality of the stage production while adding an epic grittiness to Henry’s war. Not to mention that gorgeous score! As an actor, Branagh was practically born to recite iambic pentameter, commanding each scene with a magnetic presence. I’m not usually a fan of Shakespeare’s histories, but this film was a job well done."
"Kenneth Branagh is so badass - this is his 1st time directing - at 29! + he put himself in the title role 🤯 this movie is beyond incredible; so happy they forced us to watch in school (really small town - like 15 kids in senior Brit Lit class, thankfully the teacher had excellent taste). KB is one of my favorite all-time directors - I owe him for making me understand & ultimately love Shakespeare; all of his adaptions are worth watching, Hamlet is my personal favorite but this is 🔥"
"Brilliant!"
