"This is a haunting movie. I have only seen it once, but I still think about the incredible acting by Javier Bardem as a monk in the era of the Spanish Inquisition. This movie shows how misplaced desire and piety overtook a man and destroyed three lives. Natalie Portman plays the role of the artist Francisco Goya's muse who is terribly wronged. The only person I believe was miscast was Stellan Skarsgard. He is a good actor, but not quite right to play such an artist. This has is a heartbreaking plot, but certainly has a point to make about what can happen when one man judges another."
