"i think this might be the darkest film i've ever seen, and a world i absolutely would not want to live in under any circumstances. yes, even darker than brazil. i'd rather live in 'when the wind blows' and drink irradiated water than live in a world where green chips that keep people from starving are worth crushing people and tossing them with bulldozers, the earth is dead but people are still struggling against their inevitable extinction, and attractive women are called 'furniture' and kept in apartments as sex slaves. not to mention the walking spoiler everybody already knows about this movie. charleton heston has some fun nimble action scenes, steals what he can from the wealthier people he polices (torn between ACAB and eat the rich on this one), and edward g robinson gets a REALLY great send-off as his final film. loved the jewish rep."

"Interesting movie, terrible female representation "

"The stuff with women in this movie is a bit weird as it doesn't really tie into much else besides maybe, broadly, commodification. Either way it's weird to have your supposedly sympathetic main character refer to who is supposed to be his primary love interest derogatorially as "furniture" through most of the movie. There are some interesting ideas in here though. The death room scene is fantastic and the overall environmental theme of the movie has aged like wine. It's a real mixed bag imo."

"I really did not like this movie whatsoever. It was unpleasant to say the least lol. I like scary dystopian films, but this ain’t it. It’s just gross and none of the characters were likeable. Can’t believe it takes place in a theoretical 2022."
