"Props to Clint Eastwood for playing a part to get this movie made. Their are no good guys or bad guys in war, just human beings thrown into the torrent of madness. While some fall for the propaganda of country others know better but can’t resist the call. It’s unfair but that was and is life. "
"Such an interesting perspective on the Battle of Iwo Jima and its examination of the human toll it had from the Japanese side. Brilliant direction by Clint Eastwood and screenplay by Iris Yamashita, as well as performances (especially Ken Watanabe and Kazunari Ninomiya). Deserves to be ranked among the greatest war films in my view. Heavily recommended."
