"The Patriot meets The Last Of The Mohicans with Pacino looking more like Rambo and sounding like Rocky. I have waited to see this movie for nearly 40 years. Now I see why Pacino went on an acting hiatus for four years. This movie is so bad it’s laughable. The goods are that it is an interesting story with beautiful cinematography and a wonderful score. The cast is amazing. Al Pacino, Donald Sutherland, Nastassia Kinski, Joan Plowright (the MVP here), Richard O’Brien (Riff Raff from Rocky Horror) and Annie Lennox (Eurythmics) in a small role. The bads are that the story is disjointed, the writing abominable, the acting terrible and, for whatever reason, the makeup department decided to place a very unappealing and distracting huge mole on Donald Sutherland’s cheek (facial). It really made me think of Austin Powers’ guacaMOLE (!) scene. A lot of the story must have been edited out in post-production, because parts of the movie make no sense. I love Pacino, but his acting is terrible here. He had just done Scarface, so his accent comes and goes. It’s one of the things that makes this movie laughable. But…I enjoy watching old 80’s movies. The more obscure the better. On Hoopla. But"
