"An unwelcomed stranger (Spencer Tracy) comes to an insular small town. Raw nerves and long held secrets are exposed and it becomes apparent that some don’t want the stranger to leave town alive. John Struges made bigger films (The Great Escape & The Magnificent Seven) but I don’t know that he ever made a better one than Bad Day at Black Rock."

"Taut, compact mystery thriller. Can’t think of another Spencer Tracy film like this one. And the confrontation scene in the cafe between Tracy and the two thugs ( Lee Marvin and Ernest Borgnine) is well worth a stream or a rental."
