"Watched this once a long time ago, but I still think of the ending sometimes "

"Not sure how this one slipped under my radar but extremely happy I caught up to it.
Has a slightly similar look as a Denis Villeneuve film and the score sets a tone that feels a bit like Joker (two notes on a single cello string kind of thing although not a cello in this). Backdrop is the arid, rurual Australian outback in a post global economic meltdown setting. Now put two awesome performances by Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce in the foreground and you got Rover.
Pearce's car gets stolen in the fallout of a heist gone wrong, thus pursuing them because there is something very important to him about that vehicle.
Pattinson, who literally falls out of said heist, catches up to Pearce and the two push on together.
The reveal at the end is "love it or hate it" with little room for anything in between. I was okay with it, seemed as good a reason as any.
Solid solid solid 7/10
