"This is a fantastic pressure cooker of a drama starring Kirk Douglas as a big city detective with a long suffering wife. The entire film plays out in the police precinct, with criminals coming in and out: some are hardcore criminals and others have committed petty crimes and made simple mistakes. Kirk Douglas plays his role well as an unforgiving, angry, unstable, and vengeful man who believes he is simply doing his job well. Eleanor Parker plays the role of his kind but emotionally damaged wife. When she comes on screen, the fireworks of the film really start. The acting is incredible, and I was absolutely riveted to see the characters interact in a stifling situation, and slowly fall apart at the seams."
