Over the Edge

"This is one of the first movies I can recall watching as a kid that I felt an uneasy, emotional connection to. It was a film I thought about for a while afterwards. I saw it around the age of 11, say 1983(?), years after it’s release, and likely on HBO. I thought Matt Dillon was the coolest. And, the cast of older kids seemed so mature, dealing with adult-like issues. I was so surprised kids could rebel against grown adults, if they teamed up together like they did. I recall not understanding what was happening in every scene, or why. And, I was clueless about anything related to the talk about drugs. Watching this again, now at the age of 51, is a bit of ‘taking a trip down memory lane’. While I can’t say it’s a “great film”, it’s one I really enjoyed rewatching… and, I’m going to rate it while weighing the impression it left on me at a young age."

There's acid, weed, lust, violence, rebellion, and the kids are just wanting to break away from the mold of suburban life. It's a fun watch that no one talks about and I don't know anyone else who has seen it. "
