"It's about time they got a kid. Even if she was adopted. I do like the angles they play with Odette feeling sympathy for her then them quickly becoming a family.
I thought the Forbidden Arts being it's own force was creative, confusing but creative. I enjoyed it. Plus it does help make sense as to the enchanted treasure, third movie of the franchise, her coming back after the notes and everything's destruction.
I think the true reason I like these new adaptations was because you can tell the same director is in charge. When it comes to storyline, you can just feel if it's changing strange things that tend to be the core of the story. Normally when you keep the same people in charge you don't see that, and here you can see it happening. They aren't masterpieces, but you get what you went into it for.
Then there's the scullions. The squirrel characters. I thought their backstory made sense and I liked the depth of the characters. I liked Scully too, because it showed they weren't simply 1 dimensional characters. There were people who didn't believe everything they've been told and there are others just living their lives like the master trapper brothers. It felt real.
The way Odette is finally believed also felt true. Nothing felt completely forced except for the ending. Not that the characters wouldn't react like they would, but that it just felt almost rushed. Like it had to be. It's hard to describe. But I did enjoy this one and the only part I dislike is the trial and everyone back at the castle with the army. Everything else worked out well and felt real (for a fantasy cartoon that is). It was nice."
