"This was a wild movie to watch on Christmas Eve. I think this movie is a quintessential example of classic gay trash, and I say that with love. Multiple Maniacs absolutely set a tone and wrongness for gay indie films that dominated the 70s and can still be seen in remnants today. I think I respected this more than I actually enjoyed watching it as most scenes do run a bit and it can become a bit tedious at times. Waters definitely found a better pace in his later movies but as a marker, it's hard to find one more influential. And as I've said elsewhere, despite how I may feel about any individual movie, I'm really glad the "Godfather of gay cinema" was as subversive and weird as John Waters."
