Caroline, a young waitress who seems to have bad taste in men, is on her way home one night when thugs attempt to rape her. Adam, the mysterious busboy who works at the same diner, helps fight off the assailants, and she begins a relationship with him -- but not all their fellow Minnesotans are happy for them. Meanwhile, the couple face their own difficulties when Caroline finds about Adam's past, including his unique health condition.

"I LOVE this movie!!! Marisa Tomei is absolutely wonderful in this movie and I love Christian Slater. It’s such a sweet, lovely, heartbreaking movie. I am one who does not mind crying when watching a movie. So if you don’t like that then you should definitely not watch this movie. I am a romantic at heart and so this movie just does it for me. It is so sad but such a lovely story. I hope you watch it and like it as much as I do. Plus there’s some Christmas in it. There is a trigger warning - there is an attempted rape. "
