"#120 on IndieWire’s Best Horror Movies of All Time list. I give it 2.5/5. It was acceptable. The production design for this period piece set in 1700s England is top-notch; the acting is decent with a few standouts; the pacing is a little tepid sometimes; plot conveyance to the viewer could be better, but it’s not impossible to figure out what happens. I’d say its worst offense is that some things happen for little discernible reason. Also there’s a rape scene that effectively did its job in making me uncomfortable."
