"Kirk Douglas plays the role of the larger than life, passionate and also at times morose artist Van Gogh. Anthony Quinn co-stars as Paul Gauguin, who is equally as passionate, but cannot get along well enough to live in an artist's commune together. The story follows Van Gogh through his prolific career, family troubles, and time in the asylum. Although well acted, the plot can be too shallow in parts. I have certainly seen documentaries that give a much broader view of Vincent. "
