Rudolph's Shiny New Year

"Cute but not as good as the first show. Rankin/Bass knew they had a good thing with Rudolph so they gave him another show. It's cute and I enjoyed it, unlike the Christmas in July one. That one was one too many for both Rudolph AND Frosty. You gotta know when to quit."

"When I was little and my twin sister and I used to watch all the christmas specials, and record them on VCR tapes, it was this one that we thought was elusive to see and record. In our minds this one was the coolest of the Rankin and Bass Christmas Specials. I still love it but my favorite Rankin and Bass Christmas Special as an adult is Rudolph. I still think this one is cool though. The images of the characters is unique to this movie alone. Rudolph even looks a little different. I love the look of the whale in the water. There is glitter in the water and snow. It's just beautiful and nostalgic. The music is fun and I can have it play in the background as happy music. Yep. I'm still a kid at heart when this one is on. "
