"I really enjoyed seeing Bette Davis and Claude Rains act together. This is such a strong cast and a very good story about a woman who gets out of the shadow of her strong-willed mother and becomes an independent woman on her own terms. I also enjoyed seeing how she pays back the need for independence by helping others. But I have to say that as good as the movie is, I am not a big fan of the ending. It just didn't make any sense to me. Perhaps the strange ending has to do with the era in which the story was written."
"This is one of the most empowering movies, in my opinion. Watching her character transform into someone confident and strong, someone who finds her hidden self and learns to love it, and is loved and accepted in return. She's one of my favorite movie characters and favorite character to root for. Just beautiful ❤️"
