"The Shack was a surprisingly well crafted movie. It's a lot darker than I thought it would be, but that just makes me appreciate the rest of the film so much more. This is one of my favorite depictions of God, trailing behind that one Futurama episode Godfellas. I would say this movie is a visual representation of the journey that is moving on emotionally from trauma, and I found that to be pretty unique. "

"Netflix made it seem like this was going to be a drama/thriller. But actually it's a Christian movie in disguise. That being said it didn't really have the worst takeaway message, as long as you're open to spiritual type of content to some degree. Just be aware it's not for a "movie night" type of time, and you'll be strictly watching a man's journey through grief."
"I'm a very open-minded person. I accept everyone regardless of race, orientation, religion, political affiliation, etc. With that being said, I ask that if you don't accept me for watching and LIKING this movie, you just scroll on past and leave any rude or negative comments in your head and not on my post. Ok, SO! I read this book a few years ago and loved it. I was going through a very difficult time in my life and it helped me through it. I love Sam Worthington and have been wanting to watch this for some time. I finally got to it as it's about to leave Tubi. It pretty much follows the book perfectly and was even better than I thought it would be. I'm glad I watched it and I give it two thumbs-up. PS Disagreeing with me isn't considered rude or negative and I don't mind that but if the comment is just to start an argument, I ask that you just don't. Ain't nobody got time for that!"
"Go into this with an open mind. It has so much to say. God is a big part of it, but loving each other, & acceptance is also a huge part. You can learn from if you just give it a chance. Don't want to convert you, just want you to see this movie.
Kept thinking it'd go one way & try to be smart, but it didnt.
You only need to change your perspective in certain moments to see the beauty. It's shocking how well it works.
For example, when he goes on the lake I thought that's mean. I'd seen Stars Music Video & knew exactly what would happen. But I also thought the boat would have a hole. Then I realized they didn't cause it, it was his own turmoil. It's amazing to see how Jesus can come to your rescue if you let him. I get it's controversial. But like Sarayu said, arguments ensue when we disagree. I'm simply saying this part truly moved me.
Made me feel confused, & uplifting in a way I didn't expect.
I loved what Wisdom said. True & powerful. Sonder (realization everyone has a complex & immersive life as your own) was everywhere. I adored the way Wisdom shows him Papas view. His apprehension after the fact is understandable. You feel the pain.
I was worried the movie would preach but it followed the 1 principle when it comes to talking about God. Just tell the truth. Don't try to be smart or clever. Simply share your heart. This scene everyone needs to see. Don't go into it wanting to judge, watch it ready to learn. You can have judgement after it's over. Listen. Truly listen.
You don't need to experience it for Christianity, do it to learn. It's horrible because it shows the horror life can bring, but it's revealing & wonderful.
Now the hike. This is a SPOILER!
Everything Papa said with forgiveness makes sense. Still sucks. I expected the body, then it got worse (in a good way) Not many movies can bring me to near tears.
I only wish he could take the body back so they all could get closer. That's the 1 critique I have. Yet it made sense since he never made it there."
