Corey and his band of skater buddies sometimes make mischief, but they're more interested in girls and having fun on their boards than in getting into any real trouble. Notorious enemy crew the Daggers, led by Tommy Hook, get their kicks terrorizing the locals at Venice Beach. When Corey starts dating Tommy's kid sister Chrissy, the Daggers are furious. The boys then take their beef to the "L.A. Massacre," a deadly skate race down a canyon road.

"A beautiful blast of 80s excess. I absolutely love 80s California skate culture and this is like a perfect snapshot of that. And because it's through the lens of a Hollywood coming of age film it's super dramatic and wonderfully cheesy. The soundtrack is stellar with a blend of top notch 80s punk, pop, and slow jam ballads. Endless montages of kids skating through LA causing pure youthful carnage, halfpipe skate jousting, front yard brawls, one of the best air guitar scenes ever, an awesome Red Hot Chili Peppers performance, and endless colorful calamity."
"This movie gets a thumbs up only due to the 80s nostalgia and the incredible talent of all the skaters (many of whom are uncredited.) Other than that, just another case of Hollywood completely misinterpreting and misrepresenting an entire group of people, outside of LA. Skaters in the 80s were not a bunch of muscle head jocks, they were often the skinny awkward kids that sat in the back of the class. And the "bad guys" were always depicted as punks/metalheads, when actually most skater kids listened to punk (and hip hop.) There were no rival skater "gangs," just a bunch of kids who wanted to thrash and be mildly rebellious, like most teens. "
