"First off, Triumph of the Will is a Nazi propaganda film and is controvertially, widely toted as an objective masterpiece in filmmaking. This is wrong. Triumph (as I'll be calling it from now on) has succeeded in its purpose and has tricked people into thinking any aspect of this film pushed the boundaries of filmmaking. The only thing Triumph had that no other movie at the time did, was a ludicrous budget. Triumph was ordered by Hitler after a slaughter of previous Nazi high ranking officers, and a general purge of socialist ideas from the government, so Hitler made sure to give the film enough budget to reinforce Nazi ideals to all of the German citizens, to deceive them into thinking that the Nazis were formidable and all powerful.
It's upsetting to see that this propaganda not only succeeded at the time, but is still being peddled by those afflicted by said propaganda. "
"I am so sick of this film being celebrated in some spineless attempt at objectivity. This is a cold, largely boring piece of propaganda. I have spent the last few hours falling down a rabbit hole of "degenerate art" which was art banned during the Nazi regime. Basically any modern art as well as obviously anything by Jewish or gay people all of which has more artistic value in every paint stroke than this has in it's entire runtime. Do me a favor and next time you're making a list of the "greatest films directed by women" leave this abject piece of **** off of it."
