"After every viewing, I find another reason to like this movie even more. I simply adore seeing Doris Day play the role loosely based on the true story of the 1920's torch singer (sentimental, sad, and emotional songs) Ruth Etting. She is so desperate to be a singer that she decides to use the services of Chicago gangster Marty "The Gimp" Snyder, played so well by James Cagney. The songs are great, the storyline flows beautifully, the acting is great, and Doris Day gets to stretch her acting muscles and be looked at as more than the virtuous woman in a typical romantic comedy. It is airing on Tubi Streaming as of March 2024."
