"A powerful acting showcase in addition to a haunting character study. Stellar performances by both Meryl Streep and especially Jack Nicholson (both received very well deserved Oscar nominations for this film). Jack Nicholson, like Jack Lemmon, easily ranks among the acting greats IMO, with this performance ranking among his best. There’s also a memorable sequence where Meryl sings “he’s me pal”, and it is a delight to see. Worth watching mainly for the acting."
