"This movie felt rushed, and yet the whole plot could of been stated in 15 minutes, if that. It was nice that they had Tinker Bell actually like Wendy in this one though. There were so many things that were just never talked about. They never once showed what the parents were doing for what the 4 days their kids were gone. And, if you think this review is jumbled, I did it on purpose. This is how much sense the film makes. "
"I don't recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen another Peter Pan story. They're relying on watchers to already be fans. It's not bad, just not good for your 1st Neverland experience.
Please Disney I beg of you, as a girl, stop doing women empowerment. Its pandering & you never pull it off.
Now, the flying scene. I truly enjoyed how Wendy figured it out. They never showed their thoughts in any other version. This felt real. Authentic.
However, that doesn't equate to the mad Wendy we saw earlier w/her mom. She goes to sleep & wakes up the perfect Wendy. Happy thoughts moments were good, everything else was cheap ploys to lift up girls.
They did Tiger Lily justice. I prefer her to Wendy immensely. Actress was great. Loved what she embodied for the character.
Onto visuals. Scenery is good until you realize Neverland is just a rock w/grass. There's no magic. The 1 magical part was at the beginning when mermaids swam by. The CGI is atrocious, especially at the start. Even the lighting. That 1st moment on the boat, the background is completely whited out by the sun. It's disarming.
The action is strange. Once it starts to look good, they go to a wide shot! Why on Earth would you do that? The director made some AWFUL decisions. Stop using wide angle shots! Especially ones w/the sun shining in the background & covering the scene. It's beyond atrocious, it's downright nauseous.
Also, why would Hook stop to kill Peter cuz some voice called out to stop? Yeah no.
They didn't even try to be original. All they did was make a cringey Peter Pan (Universal 2004). PP&W copied it throughout without providing actual substance to back it. The idea of focusing on Wendy, skull rock, & more. Running out of space, just watch & you'll see.
In the end, it's a Disney live action remake. Awkward, cringey in many moments, forced, & bad villain redemption arc that has good guys try to save them moment.
They tried to bring the play to life, I give them that. But try is the optimal word here."
"They literally just took all the adaptations and shoved them together, guess what...it didnt work. If you're gonna redo something redo it, or you know, pick the millions of other stories not told. It was cool that tiger lily spoke cree and that the females were the movement and strength of the movie but it was all mediocre. Also not me shipping tiger lily and wendy *cough* *cough* and a possible love triangle with tink *cough*"
