"I watched this sci-fi fantasy movie on Netflix. It is based on the manga stories called Saint Seya, and the anime series Knight of the Zodiac. I am unsure how accurate the story is compared to the original stories and characters. However, on its own, this action movie was very entertaining to watch. Starring Mackenyu Arata, Sean Bean, Marc Decascos, and Famke Janssen, the plot revolves around the Goddess Athena, and the Knights who protect her. It is a plot about good and evil, and finding purpose. The acting was good, and I enjoyed the special effects, and the fight scenes were well coordinated."
"I am completely unfamiliar with the anime source material that this movie is based on, and from what I've read in other reviews, I'm better off not knowing it because it seems that this movie ruined it.
But I can only speak to the movie as it is, and it's not good. Heavy on special effects, some good, some bad. But the story and the script were crap. I didn't care about any of the characters and most of the acting was mediocre at best. 4/10"
"I went into this blind, thinking it was an anime series. It’s actually an action/fantasy movie based on the almost 30 year old anime Saint Seiya. I was hoping it would be one of those good enough’s. But it couldn’t quite get there. The fight scenes and FX were kinda cool and the characters are likable enough but the cartoonish and bloodless action leads to a low level stakes and dims interest. It’s left wide open for sequels but the fact that it only made 7 mil on a 60 mil budget doesn’t bode well for that. "
"A typical YA fantasy film. I really wanted to like this. Highly disappointing. It’s hard to explain, like very little effort is put into it. Great cast, but just doesn’t seem to land. The concept is fine but the delivery is just lacking. I’m thinking these types of things are better as a series rather than a movie; more time to really flush out characters and plot. "
"Don't know anything about the anime and decided to watch this. One of the worst movie I ever watched. With a bad story, and nothing interesting going on, there's nothing good about this, horrible acting and fight scenes are badly choreographed. Skip this one and save 2 hrs of your life lol"
"Great movie!!"
