After a bleak childhood, Jane Eyre goes out into the world to become a governess. As she lives happily in her new position at Thornfield Hall, she meet the dark, cold, and abrupt master of the house, Mr. Rochester. Jane and her employer grow close in friendship and she soon finds herself falling in love with him. Happiness seems to have found Jane at last, but could Mr. Rochester's terrible secret be about to destroy it forever?

"The first time I watched this version I felt it was rushed but I'm watching a bunch of versions in succession and I find it not so rushed and very comparable to the 1996 version. I like it very much. The imagery is also beautiful and actors do a great job."

"This is my favorite version of the movie. Samantha Morton is excellent as the titular character. The ‘will they, won’t they’ dynamic between Morton and Ciaran Hinds is torture, even though you know they will. I enjoyed the light-heartedness pf this film despite some of the heavier themes sprinkled throughout. "
