"I love Yasiin Bey/Mos Def due to Black Star and his solo albums. I love Jack Black due to Tenacious D. Well what happens when you put them under the roof of an old school video rental store where all the 📼 s gotten erased? They try their best to re-record said movies. While you’re not going to be blown away by this movie, it does have heart and a distinctive sense of place due to the community around said video store. Yea I liked this one. "
"Less a love letter to cinema, and more a love letter to the beauty of artistic expression, collaboration, and community. I dig that Mos Def and Jack Black share the lead role. It let's them both be a bit weirder than if they had to carry the film on their own. Has a better live action Lion King remake than the actual remake."
"Sentimental, awesome, and underrated movie for sure."
