Agnès Varda eloquently captures Paris in the sixties with this real-time portrait of a singer set adrift in the city as she awaits test results of a biopsy. A chronicle of the minutes of one woman’s life, Cléo from 5 to 7 is a spirited mix of vivid vérité and melodrama, featuring a score by Michel Legrand and cameos by Jean-Luc Godard and Anna Karina.

"Beautifully shot and paced with a linier story to follow. I only wish the presentation of the main character's mental distress and her interactions were less picturesque and more dramatized, like that of Carole in Repulsion, which came out the same year. Thana in Ms. 45. is another example. It would've made the ending a bit more dynamic."
"Whenever I think of this film, I think of the beautiful opening it has in color then shoots to black and white for the rest of the film.
The film follows Cleo as we await her fatal diagnosis and go throughout her day. There are a lot of red herrings littered throughout the film, especially regarding death, but we see Cleo keep moving. The movie does have a sense of loneliness on her part, even though she is surrounded by a lot of people, it seems as she suffers inner turmoil and doesn’t condie much with anyone until the park scene, which is one of my favorite scenes as it’s both bitteesweet and sad.
