"An extremely riveting whodunnit murder mystery film from start to finish! What especially stood out for me was how the plot was secondary to the characters and motivations, leading to a film where you are invested in what is happening on screen in a way other films of its ilk don’t achieve with this level of effectiveness (for me at least). Phenomenal screenplay (deserved Oscar win for Original Screenplay) along with acting (the entire cast is uniformly good, although Maggie Smith, Helen Mirren and Ryan Phillippe stand out of the bunch), production design, and most especially the focused direction by the late great Robert Altman (cannot wait to dive into more of his works). Very highly recommended."
