"Only for those with a strong stomach. The film tests viewers limits from multiple directions. I’ve heard some talk about this film as being purely shock cinema. Not so. In Salo, the Director confronts what he believes to be the present-day “cultural genocide” occurring in late 1960s/early 1970s Italy… in particular, the petty bourgeoisie, fascinated by the vulgarities and consumerism they are fed via television (the new fascism). Politics and the writings of the Marquis de Sade are layered w/in."
"I understand that this movie was made to provide a message on the corrupt system, but it does not hold up with its excessive scenes and stories of absolute debauchery "
