"It's a fine enough show that does manage to hook you.
I wasn't the one who put this on or even planned to stay in the room, but I found myself unable to leave as I became invested real quick. No clue as to why.
But the drawn out moments and the slow pace made me finally leave. I was about 20 minutes in when that happened. Only so I could watch it on my own at times 1.5 speed. I truly recommend this. It never felt fast, either. Even when they spoke, it felt normal. I forgot I had it on that speed. So I would recommend that since not much happens throughout the movie. Yes, moments do happen and there is suspense, but even those scenes feel prolonged. I did like the main chara ter and the recluse who finds her. They both felt real, and their dialogue was a saving grace for the movie. For some reason I grew fond of their moments together. There was no creepy underlying feeling or hostility. It just felt rather refreshing for this kind of a movie. It pleasantly surprised me.
As for the other characters. They're the epitome of stereotypes. Truly and utterly every moment and their endings were completely predictable. You knew what would happen. Then you saw it play out.
Then the ending. It's not satisfying. It's why I can't recommend this movie. Yes the challenge is over and everything is right but you don't get the closure or the confirmation you want. It just ends. I chock this up to the first show that did this to me, Vision of Escaflowne. So I call these kind of movies, no vision. Basically, they have the plot and everything else, but they have no way of satisfying the viewer for watching it since they just end. Sure, the moment is cinematic, and you know things will be fine, but you want to see what happens after that.
Overall, a nice movie, great actors, better dialogue, but you, the viewer, won't be necessarily happy you watched it. It may even be frustrating if you have to watch it at a normal speed."
"so this was decent, although it wasn’t very unique and the story has definitely been done far too many times. i think the highlight was lowell who is the cousin of 2 of the antagonists and just some meth cooker minding his business before getting caught up in trying to help the protagonist. honestly i just really liked watching him and this girl develop their friendship. i think the actor gave probably the only performance of note in my opinion, his last moments on screen got me. im really fond of characters who aren’t just black or white, and i got that from lowell, he clearly wasn’t your average good samaritan but still had a good enough heart to go against his cousins and help some random girl not fall victim to them and the crazy sheriff even tho it only caused him trouble."
