Somewhere Quiet

"I enjoyed more of a 4 or 5 but its definitely a messy movie. I liked the performances a lot and loved madelin. Loved every scene with her. The conflict with the marriage was the best part. Lots of good shots and I like the music they used. Besides that though it doesn’t deliver. The kidnapping storyline is keep being hinted at. But never fully shown or had much impact. The “hallucinations” with the old lady really don’t do anything. I’m just glad there was no multiple personalities at least. The ending did not at all feel satisfying. Similar to marrow bone this had so much potential. Really liked Madeline my favorite part was her scenes. They all had great performances but I really liked how weird and forward Madeline was. "

"I do NOT like ambiguous endings. Yes, that was a spoiler but I think the people like me should be warned before they waste their time. If you like or don't mind unresolved endings, you'll probably like it. Besides that, the unanswered questions are many, another thing I don't like. It was a very slow burn, something I don't mind at all, but along with the other two things, it just made this movie ehn. The location was cool and the acting was top notch which is why I'm giving this movie three stars instead of two. I like finding new actors to follow so that was a plus but I really feel like I could have happily gone my whole life without seeing this and saved myself 90 minutes. That's not to say I hated it. "I thought this movie was really good, lots of tension, and moments where you're asking if things are truly happening or all in the main character's head. That's nothing new, it's been done, but the eerieness is so well done, and the main character was really well written where you are hoping desperately for their survival. It's a good little weeknight thriller, whether alone or for a group watch. Heads-up for triggers of gaslighting and abuse ❤️"

"Can’t believe I wasted my time watching this. I kept watching thinking that the truth was going to be revealed and when the end of the movie comes, we still don’t know what happened. Total waste of time. The plot could have been good but it was poorly executed. I understand leaving something to the imagination but throughout the movie, you wondered what happened and nothing ever got answered. "

"Very beautifully shot, and strong performance from Jennifer Kim. But sadly it’s that kind of thriller that wants to have its cake and eat it too, by presenting lots of scary possibilities but committing to none. I get that we’re supposed to not know whether it’s real or in her head, but it ultimately just felt frustrating and noncommittal to me. Part of the horror movie vibe is the Big Bad of ‘what happened?’ and this movie decides to just never reveal that. Lots of intriguing mysterious images that never pay off. Ultimately frustrating. "
