"Finally watched “Hillbilly Elegy” on #Netflix this weekend since this is based on the #memoir of JD Vance who just won the #Ohio Republican Primary this past week (May 2022) & is now a strong favorite in the race for the U.S. Senate, where he would become one of its youngest & most #controversial members. Indeed, the acting is fantastic (the entire cast was great)… and tough subject matter, but the movie ended on a positive note, so: 👍🏽👍🏽 #truestory #family #Appalachia #addiction #abuse"
"The acting was five stars. I mean Amy Adams was a literal representation of my mother and honestly it was all in the eyes that mix of farway look the look of danger the look of sling losing your mind and a raging fire inside then the few brief moments of love and recognition. This movie definitely was a little reminiscent of my own childhood. Glenn playing mamaw was unbelievable and you can truly believe that she was this woman and she live her life this way it was the right tough love and get your **** to together break those generational curses. Now, my problem was it kinda felt it was ******** on this whole group of people in the sense there was no positive reflection past, present, or future. The ending was also very inconsistent and abrupt. Which I get this movie is based on someone's real life so that needs to be taken into consideration as well. I would definitely watch for the acting alone the story is slightly lacking. "
"A story about growing up in a poor dysfunctional family surrounded by drama and trauma. America's sweetheart Amy Adams cast as a junkie hillbilly abusive mom didn't really work well. Not a great movie, but it kept my interest more than the book did, which I never finished. The ending made it worthwhile, but I won't spoil anything. They say addiction is a family disease, this movie is a great example of how one person's addiction can potentially destroy the lives of everyone around them. #Addiction #DysfunctionalFamilies #EnablingAddiction #Abuse "
