"The story of Clarence Avant was a complete unknown to me before this. I found his story, and the voids that this film glosses over, fascinating. Clarence touched famous lives in music, film and television. He is a "proper villain" who was blessed with the favor of powerful men and he bent that to a field of influence that spanned decades. The film is not a spectacle or incredibly inventive biography. If you don't get hooked in the first 15 minutes, this won't suddenly grip you."
