"I learned a lot from this documentary about the disaster of Pompeii and nearby Herculaneum. The docudrama lets us see how the disaster may have unfolded through the eyes of several characters, culled from historical documents and archaeological evidence. A rich family with a pregnant daughter, a gladiator, a slave, and the historian Pliny the Younger. I thought it was an excellent way to learn about history. I have watched this documentary several times, and it is also very entertaining as well as instructive. The acting is very good, and the experts brought in to talk about this event in history help weave the information into a much broader experience. "
