"Some movies should never be remade. Period. "

"This was an interesting remake. Instead of going all out on the adults in the first five minutes, there is a lead up to a community trial that becomes very gory. If you’re into that - this may be your type of movie. The original is a classic. As much as this was creepy and thrilling, it just wasn’t as good as the original, in my opinion. "
"This one crashed and burned. I can get behind an implausible plot, but this one was entirely incoherent. The dialogue was god awful, the plot was paper thin (and not entertaining or scary), and the acting was almost funny. The pacing makes it difficult to watch- a long, uninteresting lead up and an anticlimactic ending. At first, I thought at least this movie is trying to make a point about traumatized children getting angry at their parents... No, it didn't try to make that point. It didn't really try to make any point, except for maybe the theme, "If you try to fix something, it'll get way way worse." Overall, I couldn't root for the adults to live because they were so shallow and annoying, and I couldn't root for the children because they're frustrating, and I couldn't root for the protagonist because she was not very smart or charismatic."
