"This is such an amazing and well acted movie. I read about Alice at least 10 years ago, and I am so happy her story is being told. She and others were held in a plantation in Georgia as slaves until 1973. No news was allowed to get inside the bubble of the plantation. Alice was freed, and this is her story. Keke Palmer and Common are so good together. Jonny Lee Miller plays the plantation owner, and is absolutely chilling."
"I love Kiki palmer as an actress. I like that according to the trailer she gets the bad guy. I've been waiting to watch this for awhile. It was just depressing, boring, and gross. Slavers are disgusting. I don't know how a car didn't drive up and ask for directions to give away that they were not in the 1800s. I couldn't watch it and turned it off. "
"I hope more people see it & not think it’s another slave movie. A bittersweet scenario of real life trauma. I liked it a lot, could’ve did without common but the message is good . The parallels between the black farmer treating the immigrant workers to the slave owners was unexpected but relevant & it gave a good insight on importance of blaxploitation films. All in all gaining power back"
