The Only One

"What was this?! Tom, the leading lady of the film, is a total nightmare. She is known to blow up lives and leave nothing but wreckage behind. It felt like nothing was accomplished throughout the whole run time and no grand conclusions come to except that people, disappointingly, don’t change, even when you desperately want them to. Tom is essentially an arty nomad who has no real roots and “comes from all over.” She thinks it is permissible to just easily evade rather than directly confront and it breaks my heart for David, the man that genuinely loves her. Just when he starts to trust her again she is gone. I don’t know what completely drives her as her next move is always volatile and unpredictable, but I do know that fear of commitment or being held down is her greatest worry and/or preoccupation. "
