1979. Donald Lavoie is a fearsome hitman who works under the orders of Claude Dubois, head of the Montreal South-West mob. Donald is tasked to take under his wing new recruit Serge Rivard, a hotheaded small-time crook who soon compromises him in a botched double murder. Donald avoids justice thanks to the Dubois clan's lawyers, but this is only a temporary setback for Detective Sergeant Roger Burns, who wants to convince Lavoie to become an informer.

"I always like a good mafia movie and this one was different. Usually there is some sort of redemption arc for the protagonist. That didn't happen here. He was really a bad guy and only turned on his boss when he was asked to do a job that he couldn't possibly do. At that point he thought about his family. Ultimately he really gets what he deserves. The hits he does a pretty brutal and grounded in reality. He just wasn't likeable at all so there really isn't anyone to root for. Since it's based on true events I can't ask them to change anything but maybe they could have given him some positive qualities. Without a rooting interest you just watch to see how it plays out.
