"I see that this movie has ratings from two stars to five. I understand the reasons. The acting is not incredible, but it is fine for an extremely simple fantasy fairytale. However, I am giving this movie four stars because it looks good. Some scenes are genuinely beautiful to look at. Fairy tales are simply stories to entertain us. I think Millie Bobby Brown did a good job as a clueless princess who gets...more than she bargained for. I certainly won't give any spoilers but the bottom line is I enjoyed the movie for what it is. Don't expect too much, just enjoy it. The cast was different than I expected, and I was happy with it. Shohreh Agdashloo was wonderful, Robin Wright was ice cold and great in her role, and the beautiful and elegant Angela Bassett was a nice addition to the cast."
"I love a good fantasy adventure movie and this addition fits into the genre nicely. The first half hour moves a little slow but as soon as the wedding is over things really ramp up. Millie Bobby Brown does a great job and she has help with a great supporting cast of veteran actors such as Ray Winstone, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright, but the real star is the awesome CGI dragon. Voiced by Shohreh Aghdashloo who is an actress known for her distinct gravelly voice. They did an incredible job designing and creating this dragon, and the cinematography overall is quite good as well. I enjoyed this one. 8.5/10"
"This is basically a man Vs wild story set in a fantasy world. I was totally into it then the whole vibe changed with about 25 min left. But there’s a cool 4 legged dragon, Robin Wright AND Angela Bassett, not to mention the future 50% owner of Netflix, the 20 year old Millie. Like us all, the director must have fallen in love with her because every other scene was just different ways to make her look beautiful. You’ll see what I mean. Thing is, she’s good enough without it. But, for a PG-13 movie, It was still pretty entertaining."
