"I really enjoyed this comedy drama starring James Cagney, Olivia de Havilland, and Rita Hayworth. The storyline is about Cagney and his friend Hugo, played by Jack Carson. They grow up in the same neighborhood and love the same woman. But their lives don't go exactly as planned. Cagney plays Grimes, a charming, witty, funny, but short-tempered neighborhood man that wants a better life. Although this film is not a musical, it is very music-driven. Songs drive some of the motivation for different scenes, sometimes in a comical way. The acting is great, and I truly loved seeing Cagney play a wiseguy that wasn't a mobster. He and Olivia de Havilland have great chemistry in this film."
