"Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt play the roles of Rocky and Rani. Rani comes from an unconventional and well-educated, passionate family. Rocky's true passions are hidden behind a domineering father, and a fearful mother and sister. When he meets Rani, he suddenly starts to reveal them. This dramatic film with some comedy elements is about the blending of two families with polar opposite backgrounds, and their differences in how they choose to show their love, or withhold it. There are some moving scenes in which family members break free from their emotional shackles and show their true selves. The acting is good, and the dance scenes are extremely colorful and delightful to watch. Hindi audio."
"Excellent! I usually don’t care for Indian cinema comedies but this has such clever dialogues, funny, great depiction of a spoilt Delhiite and Bengali culture and a beautiful love story. I would buy every sari Alia wore :) Stunning cast, crew, melody — combination of Karan Johar and Manish Malhotra. Wow. "
"a soapy bollywood dramedy steeped in modern day values. sadly, this won’t make an impact on those who don’t already have the views it shares like the characters in the movie as the group of families saying “garbage movie” outside the theater will attest to.
personally, i think the movie is mostly engaging, carried heavily by ranveer and alia, but the trauma dumping at the end feels rushed.
that being said, hats off to the subtitle department for capturing rocky’s personality over the text."
