"Thanks, @DJcount, for reviewing & recommending this #thriller (recently added to #Netflix and now #1 on their #Top10 list).
You’re right, the film #director or directing was excellent — So, too, were the #performances by the entire cast.
The #FilmScore was also skillfully executed, very artful, #suspenseful & tense — the music was fittingly slow & somber & a little twisty, making me feel unsure & apprehensive.
The 🎥 camera work, too. The style in which the camera pans & moves over particular scenes (and the music) is slow & steady — and so is Benicio del Toro’s (his character’s) personality & demeanor (man, he played this so calm & cool, steady & cautious, wary & watchful —the expression coming out of his eyes 👀 conveyed so much; he never showed judgment toward anyone, at least not outwardly, but you could tell he was internally taking notes, trying to “read” & weed out suspects, not “showing all his cards,” as they say.
And back to the eerie music 🎶… When the tempo would rise at intense moments, my heartbeat would also rise; I jumped 2X watching this 👍🏾 👍🏾
▪️So, bonus points for the #jumpscares, the #slowburn #suspense and the great #performance by del Toro."
"Benicio del Toro does a superb job in playing the inquisitive, but quietly calm and cool detective who uncovers more than he bargained for while investigating a murder.
This is a slow burn, murder mystery that is well crafted but is just a little bit too long for my tastes. Although, it kept me interested as I tried to guess who would be the most likely suspect, I felt there was a little bit of a pacing issue in the first half. 8/10"
"I enjoyed this one! What you think this movie is will turn out to be totally another....loved Benicio del toro smoldering up the place along with Alicia Silverstone who plays his wife and looking so good and delivering as well! Justin Timberlake always surprises me! Think mob mystery."
"3.75/5*s
I'm a big Benicio fan and I liked this movie but there were definitely cons to it.
It was a pretty long movie, slow burn. Not much action but a little tension. Not scary. I had a hard time keeping the names of everyone straight. I have questions about a suspect. But I forgive it all its shortcomings due to the excellent del Toro. It was also nice seeing Alicia Silverstone again. I don't see her too often these days. JT did a nice job acting.
Definitely worth 3.75 *s, maybe more but I'm sticking with 3.75 because I feel like I've seen this movie before, as in originality. It's hard to find anything truly original these days."
