"This was a beautifully done, exquisite movie about living, existing, and coming together amidst grief and trauma. Everyone’s lives shift irrevocably when a shooter opens fire at a French bistro. Mia is waiting out the rain in said bistro when it happens and can never be the same person ever again.
Along the way, she meets other survivors and they each try to help piece together what happened when, who comforted and saw who at what juncture, and ultimately make sense of their lives after such an earth-shattering event. Trauma, as Mia comes to discover, blurs memory, disrupting and editing it, rewinding and fast-forwarding it at different, varied intervals.
In all of her pensive recollection, Mia comes to the conclusion that she doesn’t fit into her old life the same way that she used to. She has to rearrange and reinvent and especially find the man that helped her get through and ultimately survive that fatal, dark night that comes back to haunt her little by little over time.
This story, at its core, is poignant, true, and just goes to show how crucial it is to hold a special place for others in our personal and collective memories that goes on to endure eternally. "
