"I love Justin Long so I was so upset when I realized I will never get the wasted time back from watching this movie it was awful. Just awkward standing around and talking literally the whole movie the the last ten minutes itβs vampire sisters that kills him, I really donβt think they even tried on this one."
"A slow burn gothic-lite tale about an overconfident man and the trouble he quickly finds himself in after a night of drinking. Justin Long has carved a niche for himself as a "Scream King", having starred in other horror films like Jeepers Creepers and Barbarian, and while House of Darkness lacks the intensity or scares of those films, it does have a certain charm, from the mysterious and gorgeous mansion which hosts the entirety of the film, to the sometimes playful, sometimes hostile dialogue between characters."
"This is a slow-burn heavy in dialogue horror. There is only one jump-scare, and most of the gore takes place in the last fifteen minutes... I would not recommend this movie to just any horror movie fan... I personally really enjoy it, but I can absolutely see why others didn't. You have to like and enjoy awkward, at times extremely painfully cringe interactions between characters because that is a majority of the film. From a standpoint of how I viewed this movie, I went into it completely cold, having no idea who was in it or what it was even about. I do think that overall improved my viewing experience. I've heard some people say it was pretty predictable, if I had read the description of the film I would probably agree with that. Still though I would watch this again and of the vampire horror movies I've seen, I wouldn't say this is true horror... However in terms of vampire horror movies that romanticize the creatures and focus primarily on the female perspective of being a vampire, I think this was done fairly well... meaning, I would take this movie over the Kiss of the Damned anyday. Lol"
"Sorry, this was a no for me. I had hoped for better based on the comments. "
