To prove it was murder, she enlists the services of private eye Rigby Reardon. He finds a slip of paper containing a list of people who are 'The Friends and Enemies of Carlotta'.

"Black and white spoof on the classic film noir. I hadn't thought about it before but they had to painstakingly build exact matching movie sets from the old golden age of Hollywood movie clips placed in the movie to try and match up with the plot. Steve Martin is wonderful and makes me chuckle. I found out that this movie was a tribute piece to the wardrobe specialist Edith Head. It's a beautiful film even though parts have aged poorly. "
