"One of the most distributing films I’ve seen in a minute and I hear it’s not Miike’s worse film. I watched this because Suda51 has all but stated that Miike was an influence on his No More Heroes series. One of the characters in this film says something along the line of “The pain you inflict has no love.” and that perfectly describes this movie. Everyone is inflicting pain with some sort of passion behind it. Grotesque as it may be it’s amazing that this film works because of that passion. Glad I saw it before October ends 😂. "
"Not very much to say besides this film was insane and visually disturbing. I definitely put it up there with films like irreversible and Martyrs. A visceral challenge to watch at times. I fully understand the impact this film had on mainstream disturbing films back in 2003. For it to still effectively still hold up I can only imagine the reception back then. The fact sixteen minutes and 59 seconds of the film were cut to ensure its release in Hong Kong. Only to still be this violent is crazy."
