"I loved the premise for this movie, but didn't care for the execution. The setup is great, and some of the ideas that were brought to life were very well done, but there is definitely a pacing issue and I hated the ending. Ultimately, I guess I was a little disappointed but I would love to see someone else take a crack at it with a better writer and possibly take it in a different direction but set in the same post apocalyptic world. I give it 6.5/10"
"This was my most anticipated movie of 2022, the movie posters and trailers had me so excited for a post apocalyptic teen romp. That's not what I got. Instead, Vesper is a surprisingly mature movie that borrows themes from cinematic classics Bladerunner, Alita: Battle Angel, and Nausicaä. Although not entirely original, Vesper is a breath of fresh air from most modern Sci-Fi movies, the characters have strengths, faults, and a will to survive. The visuals are nearly perfect, they work into the plot flawlessly and feel like a genuine part of the world. Please support this movie and give it a watch, it's getting unfairly slaughtered in the box office and it's absolutely worth your time."
"SLOWWW but deliberate, another dystopian sci-fi movie I was duped into watching based on the movie poster, thinking it had something more to do with action-based survival. It's survival, sure, but is more to do with how two classes survive, dependent on each other. There are some really fascinating themes that deserved better exploration than what the movie provided -- the cost of dreams, implications of genetic engineering, how we are as humans, etc. Overall, it was decent. Visually, it was alluring."
"I liked this movie a bit. I love the atmosphere and whole look of the movie. The writing is great and I really just got lost in it. It’s a movie that doesn’t show you everything that’s probably why I enjoyed it. Their is a lot of things in the world that look fascinating. It’s a very brutal world with a lot of beautiful plants and such. I really liked the dialogue between characters it just felt natural and everyone seemed like actual people just talking. I really liked seeing the world in this young girl’s perspective. I really wish this was a show because I really liked the world. The only problem I have with it there really isn’t a plot. Their kinda just going throughout the world and doing things.but I’m not complaining much because I think it works well. It’s not the most exciting film but I really enjoyed it nonetheless."
"I didn't hate it and I watched it to its completion, so I'll give it a thumbs up for some of the same reasonable elements that @DjCount liked about it. While this is a movie. I feel it will appeal to fans of the series Raised by Wolves. I didn't like RbW even though I'm a big fan of both of the Scott Brother's works. I lean more towards Ridley but I do experience moments of surprise during credit rolls when I learn that I just watched a Scott Free production of a Tony Scott film. Back to the movie, I feel it left some vital questions unanswered. Again, @DjCount already mentioned the deficiencies. One thing that is frustrating about TONS of movies and real life is how the real monsters are usually the humans (Clive Barker says this exact thing during the director's commentary of The Midnight Meat Train.) and instead of becoming men, we oftentimes become mice at the worst possible times. Vesper is not of the former. Instead she's a young woman/girl that's unwilling to give in to her physical environment or the male hierarchy. She can STEM! I recommend it but it needed to be longer just to flesh out some of the ideas."
"Just watched on AMC+. First off, a stunningly beautiful movie. The acting is great and the musical score is haunting and dramatic all the way through. That said, it's basically an earth whose ecosystem gets destroyed and this is the story of the survivors who are split into basically rich and poor kinda movie. Nothing groundbreaking here. We follow a girl and a newly found friend on a journey to help revitalize the ecosystem. The story for me is far too localized and we never get to see how the other, more privileged survivors live. It just focused mainly on a few of the peasants trying to survive. There are a couple times we see ships flying overhead to let us know there is more going on, but it is never explored. Everything takes place in a house or the area outside nearby the house. There are a couple other plot points I didn't mention for those who want to check it out, but for me they weren't strong enough to make me really enjoy the movie to the point that I'd ever watch it more then once. But again... it's an incredibly beautiful and haunting sci fi movie, and I'm sure there are lots that will enjoy the story more than me. I'll give it a 6/10, but a lot of that just goes into just how superb the movie looks and feels. "
