"You know, I, in general, tend to like Last Week Tonight more than I liked any other comedy news ventures. This is partially due to format. Last Week Tonight being once a week instead of daily gives more room for a level of research and specialization that you don't get from breaking news. But also John Oliver, in general, puts his foot in his mouth less than Jon Stewart ever did especially about newer cultural conversations or things outside of Stewart's life experience. So trust me when I say I was amazed that Jon Stewart's Trans Rights segment was better than both of the Last Week Tonight. And that's not a knock, I love those segments, but Stewart's was amazing. The reason Stewart DOES tend to put his foot in his mouth is he comes at things with a level of emotion that Oliver rarely does and that is an exact strength in the trans segment. He gets the opportunity to interview a transphobic politician and genuinely asks everything that I might fantasize about asking her in my wildest dreams. He doesn't let her ********. He gives a genuine plea that if he had a child that was suffering and needed care he would do anything in his power to get them help and transition services that they needed which I found genuinely moving. It is, and I don't say this lightly, one of the best interviews I've ever seen Jon Stewart give in the years I've watched him and it's kind of a shame that it lives in relative obscurity."
