"This historical drama is PBS' answer to the Netflix series about the german royals Empress Elisabeth of and Emperor Franz of Austria in the 1800's. I honestly believe that BOTH series are just as complete, but each tell different parts of the story of the tumultuous and passionate lives of the couple, their relationship with their families, court intrigue, the wars of the era, and the lives of everyday people, all with a dark rebellion brewing. The acting is excellent, the set design is impressive, and the quality of the writing is so pleasing. German audio. Three seasons are available on PBS KQED Streaming."
