"Unlike anything else out there, one critic opined that it’s the most beautiful TV show ever. It’s certainly brilliantly photographed with dozens of jaw-dropping moments. It’s much like an Italian art movie. The plot is entirely unconventional too - a rebellious pope who smokes, may or may not believe in god and does everything in his power to alienate everybody, including sometimes the viewer. Protracted lessons in theology may not endear the viewer either. And yet … it’s hard not to see the brilliance here. This is movie-making of the highest caliber. Jude Law is phenomenal and so is the rest of the large cast. This show may not be for everyone even if it’s truly staggering in its achievements, but it left me aching for more. Now on to the sequel., "
